LEADERSHIP TEAM

The WBLC Leadership Team consists of four senior staff, all with university or post-grad degrees, who have accumulated years of experience in their fields. Three have published books, articles, papers and taught at universities and colleges. Four team members have together led over 200 projects and consulting assignments. Three members of the team have led research and evaluation projects for sector councils, agencies, Ministries, and colleges.

With regard to knowledge mobilization, two of the team members have developed, at the time of their introductions, innovations that affected the use of screening techniques on the Internet; on the design of benefit programs; on the use of self-directed teams in banking in learning, and on the use of e-learning techniques in many different sectors.

WBLC is the ONLY organization in Canada that is successfully applying ‘competencies-based, outcomes-driven’ principles in industry-led employee learning programs. WBLC’s Leadership Team has, to our knowledge, the deepest expertise and most extensive experience in Canada in successfully applying ‘competencies’ principles and practices with private-sector companies and public-sector organizations and their employees.  WBLC’s Leadership Team consists of the following accomplished and experienced individuals:

Wayne Lamon, MBA has 20 years of corporate experience as a senior executive responsible for human resource functions and multi-disciplinary business units. He also has over 25 years experience in management consulting with an emphasis on human resources and process management. For the past 20 years, he has served as President of LSM Consulting.

He has managed many large human resource assignments involving the re-positioning of these departments to meet new business and strategic initiatives. With his leadership, the firm has developed a leading-edge approach to competencies as the tool for developing all product and services within human resource functions. One of LSM Consulting’s core competencies is the design, formulation, measurement and development of competencies.

LSM Consulting has developed its own competency dictionary which has been used in many sectors including banking, IT, aerospace, manufacturing and the Ontario Government.

Dr. Michael Godkewitsch, Ph.D., C. Psych. is a registered industrial / organizational psychologist with in-depth experience in consulting to the private and public sectors in people management and productivity improvement. His consulting practice, embedded in the practices of LSM Consulting, supports the health and effectiveness of organizations and their individual stakeholders through managing processes affecting people, their productivity and their well-being. Major clients are in the information technology, financial and energy sectors, mid-size and large manufacturing firms, consulting agencies and governments. His customers range from world-wide corporations to small businesses and individuals. Dr. Godkewitsch’ relevant service areas evolve around the discovery, assessment and development of talent and of crucial effectiveness factors in the work place and in individuals, including: competency profile design and measurement; selection of excellent staff based on specific workplace needs and generic competencies; performance and competency management; determining the financial value, return on investment and utility of non-technical training, and OD interventions.

Rod Jones, B.Eng., MBA currently provides overall direction and management of the Work-Based Learning Consortium. He led the creation in 2013 of the Ontario Manufacturing Learning Consortium (OMLC) – a joint initiative of Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME), the Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA), the Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC), and the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCI) that delivered work-based-learning to help advanced manufacturing companies bridge their skills gaps in entry to mid-level skilled positions. During his 21 years as Executive Director of the OAC (1993-2014), Rod led the following learning and HR projects:

Learning Programs for the Aerospace Sector: Aerospace Industry Training Program – for production operators; Program Management in Aerospace – for engineers and development program teams; Aerospace Executive MBA – for aerospace executives. (Ontario government funding: $2.25 million)

Canadian Manufacturing Agility Forum – development and pilot delivery (6 firms) of a strategic change program for SME aerospace suppliers. (Federal and Ontario government funding: $1.2 million)

Canadian Aerospace Human Resources Strategy: development of the Human Resources strategy for the Canadian aerospace industry, engaging all Provinces. (Federal government funding $800K)

Ontario Manufacturing Learning Consortium: with the WBLC Leadership Team, developed and delivered five (5) OMLC assessment/selection, hiring, learning and certification programs for entry- to mid-level skilled jobs, working with more than 50 Ontario advanced manufacturing companies.  From early 2014 to late 2018, over 550 young people (18-29) were hired and trained via these OMLC programs to be CNC Machinists, CNC Setup, CNC Operators, CMM Operators and Structural Airframe Assemblers. (Ontario government funding: $4.3 million)

Ron Craig, M.B.A, A.C.I.S., A.I.B. is a highly experienced international banker and IT consultant with a strong delivery orientation and the ability to simplify complex issues through analysis and insight.

After a banking career working in 12 countries on 3 continents and rising from Teller to Senior Vice President, he founded Ron Craig Consulting Limited, specializing in bridging the gap between technology and business management.

Recent engagements include:

  • Managing the development of Business Requirements for an RFP for a major transformational initiative at one of Canada’s largest banks.
  • Work Stream Leader of both the Document Management and the Mortgage Fulfillment and Servicing initiatives to install SAP’s CRM and Banking Services modules at a major bank.
  • Documenting Business Requirements and developing an Information Technology Plan for a leader in the education savings market.
  • Developing Business Requirements for a leading North American energy company to simplify the customer web site sign-up experience to attract more customers and reduce costs.
  • Developing, implementing and administering the web-based solution for the WBLC. The system facilitates recruitment with on-line competency tests and monitors Trainees’ progress using interactive forms and on-line testing.

Ron completed an M.B.A. in 1980 at Cranfield University, England, is a member of The Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators and The Institute of Bankers in Scotland and is certified in the Bates Project Management methodology.
